Will I have to have X-Rays?
X-rays are not required for every patient. Dr. Lee does a complete chiropractic and medical
assessment. This includes X-rays to provide a picture, especially after trauma to confirm his
other findings and make your care more precise. After your examination Dr. Lee will let you
know whether he needs to take X-rays or not.
How long until I feel better?
Often our patients experience instant relief, however other individuals may discover that their
healing process takes more time. Depending on the extent of your injuries, relief can take
weeks, months, or sometimes years. Every patient recovers at his or her own pace. Age,
overall health, muscle tone, diet, exercise and even your attitude can vary the length of
recovery time.
Are adjustments safe?
YES! A New Zealand government study concluded that chiropractic adjustments are
“remarkably safe.” Taking an over the counter pain reliever is about 100 times more risky.
(Patient Media, 2006)
When will I get my first adjustment?
It depends on your major health concern, and the extent of any possible injury. In most
cases, our patients are able to receive an adjustment after Dr Lee assesses your condition,
and reviews his findings with you. This is a clinical decision that varies from patient to patient.
Will the adjustment make my spine to loose?
No. Only the spinal joints that are ‘stuck’ receive adjustments. This allows the weakened
muscles and ligaments to stabilize and heal (Patient Media, 2006)
What do adjustments feel like?
After some brief pressure on your spine, some patients may report increased mobility.
Other patients have reported feeling calm, relaxed, and an overall sense of well-being.
With knowledge of over ten different techniques, Dr. Lee specializes in making adjustments
comfortable for you.
What makes the sound?
Bones in your spine are separated by lubricating fluids. Sometimes an adjustment may
produce a sound, which is just gas and fluids shifting within the joints. Its like opening a soda
can, or removing a suction cup. The change in pressure allows increased mobility where the
joint was previously ‘stuck’. Although it may be interesting, the sound isn’t a guide to the
quality or value of the adjustment.
Will I receive any medication for my pain?
No. Chiropractic doctors don’t dispense pharmaceutical drugs. We rely on natural methods to
heal the body. Dr. Lee is happy to instruct you how to use ice to control any painful symptoms.
When ice is applied properly it can have an analgesic effect without the adverse reactions
associated with pain medications.
Can I adjust myself?
No. Some patients can make their joints ‘crack’ or ‘pop,’ but this is not an adjustment! Our
adjustments are very specific, not quick manipulations. Even chiropractic doctors must consult
a colleague to benefit from chiropractic care.
